Central Tech is an Oklahoma vocational technical school located in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Sapulpa has a population of approximately 20,000 people and is located in Creek County. The overall population of Creek County is approximately 60,000 people. Oklahoma is recognized Nationally for it's excellent vocational technical system of schools. Central Tech is a leader in the Oklahoma vocational system and has demonstrated that leadership by being awarded the "Gold Star Award" for seven consecutive years. The "Gold Star Award" is the highest honor a Vocational School can achieve in the State of Oklahoma. Central Tech is the only school in Oklahoma to be received this award seven times.
A unique training program that is offered at Central Tech is Law Enforcement. This program is offered in only two schools in the entire state. The Law Enforcement program was established in 1990. Since 1990 students in the program have won national honors in contests including two first place wins.
The program is two years long which equals 1050 hours of instruction. There are nineteen different units of instruction which include College level instruction in a variety of Criminal Justice course work. Also included in the curriculum is police academy style training which addresses the physical aspect of law enforcement, such as firearms handling and arrest procedures. Student in their second year of training have the opportunity to do internships with local law enforcement agencies.
